A few upperclass students choose Caltech each fall to further their audacious pursuits of the STEM fields. Caltech has two pathways for upperclass admission, either through our transfer process or through the 3/2 Program process. Each new student is welcomed into a close-knit, collaborative community of nearly 1,000 undergraduate scholars who have demonstrated the highest level of academic excellence and share a strong interest in science, engineering, and technology.

Approximately 10% of Caltech's undergraduate students are citizens of countries outside of the U.S. According to Caltech's Director of International Offices, "Our community is formed by people who share the common language of scientific inquiry and imagination, regardless of whether or not they share cultural backgrounds."
